I’ve been steadfast for the past year when it comes to looking at boats, discovering what I like, what I want, and what I need. Mind you the majority has occured online, so I created a database of the boats I like. Boy did that list grow quickly!
I’ve seen a number of my favorites float off into someone else’s dock. I’ve seen some asking prices drastically sink. I’ve seen others raise their prices, especially after a few hurricanes hit the east coast.
Getting that boat (whichever one I end up choosing) has always depended upon one thing – selling my house. This was a fixer-upper, in which much of the fixing was going to be done by my husband ex-husband. While I am quite crafty, I’m not great when it comes to installing windows, replacing doors, or basically lifting heavy objects by myself. Thus why I still have 3 different sized slabs of granite outside. I can’t even lift the smallest one.
I awoke this morning thinking, “Wouldn’t it be great if I got a solid offer today?” I’d been contacted by some “flippers” & rehabbers, but only one of them actually sent someone to look at the house. That was December 16th, and I hadn’t heard a word from them since. Of course, I kept telling myself it was because of the Holidays.
This morning at 11:11AM my phone rang. It was them with a solid offer. Not as much as their original offer, but an offer I’m seriously considering. It’s enough for me to get my boat – again not sure which one – and begin making it green. I should be able to start immediately with the Water Maker, Solar Panels & lithium batteries. The hydro & wind can be added down the river.
I need to add that once I decide upon which boat, that’s going to dictate where I’ll be located for some time, as I want the work to be done as soon as possible. So far it seems I’ll be somewhere on the East Coast, Texas, or possibly Marathon, Florida (where one of my Top 5 is located).
I’m also going to need to find a job near the marina/anchorage/mooring (the latter will require an immediate extra cost of a dinghy). I have my eye on a few “boat bikes” (they fold up to take up less room) to get around. There is also a bike (can be electric) called the Convercycle, which extends to carry larger items. As of today, their KickStarter has limited rewards, including a pledge of €1,049 for the standard & €1,299 for the electric version, both with an expected delivery in August.
Back to finding a job… I’m sure near where I’ll be docked/moored there will be a few restaurants & bars. Perhaps there will be an opening at the marina’s shop, which might afford me a discount on items, tools, labor, etc. I will also be relying on the kindness of others – luckily, boat folk are usually helpful. From the outside, it’s always appeared to me as a form of “pay-it-forward” system. I can definitely deal with that!
I’m also a strong believer in MSI – Multiple Streams of Income, so I’ll be sharing those with you as well. I will be including those that can be started with ZERO Investment. I have found a few that do actually payout!
I have until Monday, January 7th to accept or deny their offer. I’m sure we all, including those who have no idea who I am, have a pretty good idea of what I’ll be choosing.
Now if I could only figure out why I can’t embed pictures/videos on this site. I’m sure it’s something silly like adding a plugin or something…
Anyway, till next time my lovelies!
